Friends of Freyr Home
What if there was somewhere i can go with my daughter (who has Intellectual Disability/Autism) where she can be involved in engaging activities that are part of life in a village-type environment? Where she receives "natural" community support, and the care-burden on myself is reduced and I can feel supported - by being with other families, where other families with special needs children can come and visit; where we can offer affordable engagement therapies, training and support for people whose passion lies in helping others while contributing to the greater good of our community, society and life?

Somewhere to Start
How to create a worthwhile or desirable future for my daughter and other "kids," with disabilities/special needs and their families? How to help create a future for my daughter and I to live into that gives us both quality of life and fulfilling experiences... with involvement from other like-minded souls? How to reduce the isolation i currently feel in my "normal" life?
The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. I think a richer tapestry can be created, as people find or invent their own contribution to being part of a "Revivement Village". I have no intention of ever "retiring" - I can't. I always have to be here for my daughter. But i do need somewhere I can come back to Life!
My core belief or reason for creating or becoming part of a co-operative village lies in creating an environment where people can do what they love each day, or in a managed way, without the need for money - but as a contribution that enriches the quality of life for all inhabitants. A symbiosis. For example, a person's contribution may be feeding chickens, emptying compost, gardening, or, looking after kids; or cooking the main meal of the day; or giving a massage; or doing building/construction work.... If everyone just contributed their skills - we would all benefit from having good food on the table, some child care, or main meal provided each day, health opportunities/relaxation, improved infrastructure.... At minimal or no cost. I think it's called Working Together. Seems obvious?!
So let's do it!
